The school did not organise the yr 9 annual review properly. They had no idea of the requirements for transition planning. I am not happy that as a parent I had to take the initiative in finding out what was required. |
| 14.1.10 | Feedback from Keith Brelstaff, SEN Monitoring & Professional Support Manager in the Local Authority Dear parent,
I am very concerned about the experience you had at your child's school regarding the Yr 9 Annual Review and Transition Plan. The Connexions advisor (now called Careers and Skills Advisors) should work with the young person to come up with an outline transitions plan which is presented at the Annual Review and modified through years 10 and 11. The head teacher and or SENCo should know all about this. As transitions is a priority locally and nationally I will raise this with heads of secondary provision and through the meetings I have with Sencos every term. I am assuming this was a mainstream school. If you want to contact me directly please email me: kbrelstaff@somerset.gov.uk Keith Brelstaff |
